Frequently asked questions
About GenEdu AI, AI in teaching and the grant.
GenEdu AI is an AI school-based learning and teaching platform for Hong Kong primary and secondary schools. It combines AI lesson planning, AI assessment and marking, a scaffolded Socratic tutor, subject resource libraries, a student self-directed learning desk, PIE school analytics and SDAS in one secure system where the school owns the data, with consultancy and training aligned to the EDB AI Education Grant.
No. The tutor uses a scaffolded hint ladder: clarifying questions first, then directional hints, worked examples, and only reveals steps at the level a teacher allows. Teachers set the ceiling per task and can watch, pause or flag conversations live.
All subjects, with built-in templates for Chinese, English, Mathematics, General Studies / Science, Humanities and STEM. The UI is Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong) with an English toggle; AI output can be Chinese or English per tool; oral practice supports Cantonese, Putonghua and English.
Each school's data lives in an isolated database and file volume, deployable in Hong Kong cloud or a school-designated environment. Schools can export knowledge assets, resources, curriculum, rubrics and student records at any time; we assist migration and deletion at contract end.
The data always belongs to the school — on-premises or cloud makes no difference. Either way, administrators can download everything (JSON / CSV / original files) from the admin panel in one click, free of charge and without limits. That is how confident we are in the service: schools stay because the platform works, not because their data is locked in.
Yes. Schools may download all their data and move to another provider at any time, no reason required; at contract end we assist migration and provide a deletion certificate. AI providers (OpenAI / Azure / Anthropic / Poe / Ollama) can also be switched in the admin panel at any time.
Yes. Add one CNAME record in your DNS (e.g. ai.yourschool.edu.hk → genedu.ai) and we issue a TLS certificate and enable it. Staff and students log in on the school's domain, and the login page shows the school crest and name. Supported for both cloud and on-premises deployments.
On-premises means the whole platform (Docker containers) is installed on the school's own server or designated private cloud, so data never leaves the school. Typically a Linux host with 4+ cores / 16 GB RAM and outbound access to the AI provider API; we handle installation, updates and monitoring, the school's IT handles backups and network. Features are identical to the cloud edition, including full export at any time.
OpenAI's latest models by default, with Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Poe (one key for Claude / GPT / Gemini and more) and local Ollama also supported. Admins switch provider and model in the admin panel without touching teaching settings.
No. Every tool is form-based: pick subject, grade and unit, type the topic. Advanced teachers can create and share prompt templates.
Yes. GenEdu AI is a Progressive Web App — add to home screen on iOS and Android, with camera upload for homework and voice input.
Two ways. Side by side: eAdmin agents draft eNotice, eCircular, iMail and other documents and push them to eClass via webhook / API adapters. Or replace it: GenEdu Campus provides 20+ eClass-parity modules for free (notices, attendance, leave, discipline, report cards, ECA, OLE, booking, inventory, payments, library, admissions, bus, CMS…) and the built-in migration wizard imports eClass CSV exports of your roster, attendance, conduct, OLE, clubs and library at zero cost.
Yes — free forever, no student cap, and no AI plan required. The only condition is that you are a Hong Kong primary / secondary school or kindergarten. It covers every admin module, updates, cloud hosting and the 24-hour human hotline; the only possible extra cost is hardware you choose to buy (e.g. smart-card readers) or a server if you opt for on-premises deployment.
Yes — demo accounts and a 30-minute demo, plus suggested grant proposal content for your school.
Yes — and it is rare in education technology. GenEdu AI's 24-hour support hotline 3578 7878 is answered by people every day of the year, and any teacher, student or parent in the school may call directly, not only the IT coordinator. Callers read out the 10-digit support ID and 4-digit PIN shown under Settings → 24-hour support to verify identity; we never ask for passwords. During office hours you can also call 3578 7888, fax 3578 7877, or reach sales on WhatsApp 5113 0000.
Yes. GenEdu AI is an AI school-based learning platform with consultancy services covering AI-assisted planning and assessment, student AI learning tools, teacher training with on-site support, and outcome analytics. We provide a proposal template and requirement mapping to help schools apply.
The standard plan is an annual subscription (aligned to the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years) with unlimited accounts for 800 students and 100 staff, all modules, all updates and model upgrades. AI usage is included — no token or per-call charges.
No. GenEdu AI hosts the AI provider by default; schools may also bring their own OpenAI / Azure OpenAI keys or local models and switch in the admin panel.
Yes. We offer demo accounts and a 30-minute online or on-site demo, plus suggested proposal content tailored to your school.
Teachers, students and parents reach a real person — any time
Very few education-technology companies are willing to run a 24-hour human hotline for schools. GenEdu AI's support line 3578 7878 never closes: a teacher planning lessons at midnight, a student whose submission failed the night before an exam, a parent checking a notice after work — all can call directly, without waiting for office hours.
24-hour support hotline3578 7878365 days · 24 hours · answered by peopleFor everyone in the school
Not just the IT coordinator or a named contact — any teacher, student or parent can call the hotline. Schools do not need to staff a first-line help desk.
Nights and holidays included
Lesson planning happens in the evening, homework after school, parents check notices after work. Our support hours follow school life, not office hours.
Support ID + PIN verification
Every user has a personal 10-digit support ID and 4-digit PIN under Settings → 24-hour support. Read them out on the call to verify identity — we never ask for passwords.
Works for on-premises too
Even when the platform runs on the school's own server, support IDs are issued by the GenEdu central platform — same hotline, same process.
